Album Info:
This album is a collection of photos of the St. Louis MetroLink passing through different spots along the Red and Blue lines in St. Louis City and County. PLEASE use caution if you ever wish to take photos of MetroLink. Their policy says they allow it in "public areas" of Metro's system. They do however have a policy that says "no taking pictures of infrastructure" and a lot of their employees think their private policy has legal authority outside their property lines. They do not own the County and City right of ways. They're pretty camera shy and awfully sensitive about people taking pictures of anything that's their property so railfan this system at your own risk.

MetroLink was pretty busy getting people between North St. Louis cunty and downtown St. Louis as well as between the City and the MetroEast (Illinois side). Approaching UMSL South Westbound
Description:
I took this shot on my commute to my job in Affton. Sometimes I either ride my bike to this station (UMSL South) to get to Shrewbury, OR take the 49 to Hanley or the 35/33 buses to Rock Road, and go to Shrewsbury from there. Here, on one of those days where I ride to UMSL South, I shot MetroLink Car 3002 leading Car 3022 into UMSL South Station on their way to Lambert Airport. his was shot in Auto Mode, to see if the train would come out clearly, which normally doesn't in [partly] cloudy weather.

Approaching UMSL South Westbound - 2 Days Later
Description:
On a sunny day at UMSL in North St. Louis County, MetroLink Car 1018 leads Car 1016 (an Anniversary Car) westbound toward Lambert Airport as they pull into the UMSL South Station (located just south of Natural Bridge Rd.). I re-took the previous shot on my next work day to see if it would come out better if the sky was clear, and in Auto Mode instead Program-Cloudy. Everything looks good, but the trains white paint comes out a bit bright in the hot Sun.

St. Louis MetroLink -- Docked at Shrewsbury Station (1)
Description:
MetroLink Car 1002 is a very original MetroLink SD-400 LRV from when the original alignment opened in July of 1993. I took this photo of it docked at the Shrewsbury Station on Landsdown Ave on my way to work. I rode in the this car from Forest Park after transferring onto the Blue Line. In a few more minutes, the driver will enter the cab facing the camera and prepare the train for her eastbound trip out to Fairview Heights, IL, leading Car 1022 in tow.

This is another shot I took of MetroLink Car 1002 behind Car 1022 at Shrewsbury Station. This was taken from the ramp leading down to the busport, in Program-Sunny mode, which does great in bright sun light, but darkens areas that the Suns light does not touch.

MetroLink High Above the Ted Jones Trail
Description:
A westbound MetroLink train approaches the UMSL-North Station in Normandy, MO, running on the viaduct high above the southernmost terminus of the 2.5 mile long Ted Jones Trail which runs from the campus near the station, to Redmond Ave in Ferguson. This train consists of Cars 2010 (an SD460 model from 1999), and 3024 (an SD460 2000 model).
